Homo erectus is an erect man. This sculpture is about finding gender identity. Materials: wood, paint. Sculpture dimensions: 51 x 32 x 11 cm. Established in 2018.
What did you create?
I created a sculpture. This is a stylized human torso.
Why did you make it?
I work in the fields of public art, conceptual sculpture and installations. In my artistic practice, I use recycled and discarded materials in an attempt to search for boundaries between internal conflicts and outer perceptions as well as real and the imaginary worlds. I’m most interested in the practice of rethinking what it means to be a person in the contemporary sense through the “queer” eye of corporeality.
How did you make it?
I connected the combined parts of carved wood with screws and glue. Once the composition of the sculpture was found, I worked on the color scheme. I used a special color mix of blue for painting.
