The switch to your emotions

Switch on the feels for
someone with your creatives!

icon

As human beings, our days are filled with a whole range of emotions.
For instance, the joy that we get when we see a delicate little flower that has popped up on the roadside,
or the excitement we feel when we are about to embark on a new challenge or milestone in our lives.
If there was a switch that could turn on people’s emotions and touch their hearts,
what would this switch be and what would it look like?

With the advances in biological science and neuroscience in recent years,
we are starting to understand more about the mechanisms of our emotions.
However, rather than conduct academic research into our emotions and feelings to understand how they work,
we enjoy encountering these emotional switches that we know so little about and
appreciate the diverse number of switches around the world that bring us so much joy.
But perhaps more than anything,
it is the act of creating our own new switches that allows us to feel a creative worth and dynamism.

The YouFab2016 special award, the Yamaha Award,
hails to Yamaha’s corporate slogan of 'Sharing Passion & Performance'
and recognizes creative excellence in new emotional switches that push existing boundaries.

MESSAGE Hopes of discovering new switches to our emotions

icon

Yamaha Corporation has kept the Fab movement, also referred to as the new industrial revolution,
in its sights since the dawn of Fab. Based firmly on the brand’s corporate slogan of “Sharing Passion & Performance”,
Yamaha boasts a long history of striving to support creative expression and collaborating with creative minds.

We came up with the concept of “the switch to your emotions”
in the hopes that it would lead to free expression unconstrained by conventional values.
So even though ideas may be completely out of the box or
something that human beings find a little difficult to fathom at this present time,
those ideas may turn out to be a brand new concept to human beings and something that touches our hearts.

If you look up the word passion in the dictionary it will say something like
“a strong feeling or emotion toward something or someone that touches your heart”.
So basically, passion is not simply about fun, beauty, or feeling good,
but it involves stepping out of one’s comfort zone and questioning conventional approaches and systems.
We hope that entrants can step out of their comfort zones to develop
their free-thinking ideas into creative works that switch on your emotions.

We hope that this Yamaha Award will be an opportunity for us
to co-create with the winning entrants and contribute to creating value to further enrich our society.
This is a new approach for Yamaha and we are excited about the new encounters that this initiative will present to us.
We hope that through the Yamaha Award we can support the endeavors of creators,
and continue to develop opportunities to enrich our society together.
